Bench
Conceived in 2003, Bench derives from Hayes' first
impression on arriving in an African village of a group of people
silently watching him. The sculpture takes its form from a row
of seated figures and is designed to be used as a place for sitting
and contemplation.
Cast in bronze at Morris Singer Art Founders, Bench relates
to Hayes' other works, which erode and age with time, as the
patination will change with contact with seated people.
